Golden Autumn Greetings
As the hours of daylight decrease, we are reminded that the Summer of 2018 has now well and truly morphed into Autumn.
But what remains of the Summer past?
For many of us here in the eeai, this time of year provides us with an opportunity to reflect on the vitality of which the warm summer sun has left us with for the darker months to come. It is of course ‘harvest time’ and we are thankful for this year’s ‘crop’ of new members and subscribers who brought with them their presence, new ideas and new strength.
October 2018 has seen the publication of the Final Report from the Oireachtas Joint Committee on the Future of Mental Health Care here in Ireland. The eeai greatly welcomes the inclusion of Recommendation 12 which clearly “…recommends that access to a range of ‘talk therapies’ should be a mainstream part of (our) mental health services…”.
In terms of our own continuing commitment to Research & Development here at the eeai, we would like to introduce you to our new themed series, ‘Gifts from the Natural World’. We will aim to highlight some of the potential health benefits that specific aspects of nature have for human beings. The first piece, by our Newsletter Co ordinator Aidan, explores the health benefits of soil.
We hope your autumn season involves lots of opportunities to be outdoors to observe the brilliance of the light at this time of year. As the sun’s relative height at our latitude drops, it’s rays become more angled. This, coupled with the autumn leaves’ annual senescence (their death resulting in being shed), makes this time of year truly golden.
Here’s hoping that this is reflected in your experience of it.
